 Lettuce: 

Lettuce markets are steady, but hearing we may see a slight increase next week. Average weights range between 40 to 45 pounds. Slight misshapen heads and outer leaf discoloration have been reported. Quality is fair to good. 

Leaf: 

– Romaine markets are steady. Slight fringe burn has been reported, but it is minimal. Quality is good. 

– Romaine Heart markets are steady. Quality is good. 

– Green and Red Leaf markets are steady. Slight fringe burn has been reported, but it is minimal. Quality is good. 

Lettuce Tender Leaf: 

There are still a limited number of tender leaf items. As a result of the heavy rains that California had when growers were planting the product, the product in Salinas is still behind schedule. Hopefully, the weather in the Salinas Valley will warm up and growth will increase over the next few weeks. This has affected Parsley, Cilantro, Arugula, Spring Mix, and Spinach. 

Broccoli: 

Markets are steady. Quality is good. 

Cauliflower: 

Markets are steady. Quality is good. 

Carrots: 

– Cello and Loose markets are steady. Quality is good. 

– Value-add Snack Carrots are steady. Quality is good. 

Celery: 

Markets are steady. Production in Salinas will begin this week in a light way. Oxnard and Santa Maria will continue to produce enough to meet demand. Please be aware that seeders are still being reported. This week, all value-added items will be subject to fourth-tier escalation. Quality is fair to good. 

Strawberries & Bush Berries: 

– Strawberry markets are steady. Quality is good. 

– Raspberry markets are still active. This item continues to be short in supply due to cooler weather which is not producing much fruit. Over the next several days, California’s temperatures are expected to warmer, which should help berry maturation and color. Quality is fair to good. 

– Blueberries markets are steady. Quality is good. 

– Blackberries markets are still active. California’s cold weather is delaying fruit maturation. It is expected that West Coast numbers will begin to appear by the end of next week, weather permitting. There are still light numbers crossing the Mexican/U.S. border. Quality is fair. 

Potatoes: 

The potato market is strong and very tight. 40ct-80ct have been hit the hardest. Quality is fair to good. We are about 2 months away from new crop. 

Onions: 

The onion market is stable. Overall quality is good. 

Cucumbers: 

– Cucumber market is steady. Quality is good. 

– Euro cucumbers markets are slightly up. Canadian product is running short. Quality is good. 

Peppers: 

– Green bells markets are steady. Quality is good. 

– Red Pepper markets are coming off. Quality is good. 

Herbs: 

– Basil: We are still seeing minor quality issues. Overall, quality is fair to good 

Citrus 

– Orange markets are still up and are tight on small fruit with significantly less volume. Val’s have started, but volume is very light. Quality is good. 

– Lemon markets are still up out West. We have started Import Lemons. Quality is good. 

– Limes are steady. 

Grapes 

Grapes have come off significantly since product has become more available. 

Tomatoes: 

As crops transition, supply is improving on both coasts. Tennessee, North Carolina, and California will begin the 1st week of July. Eastern Mexico has also begun to produce. Overall, supply will improve by the beginning of July. 

Cabbage: 

– Green Cartons: Markets are stable. Quality has been good. 

– Red Cartons: Markets are stable. Quality has been good. 

– Bagged Cabbage: Markets are stable. Quality is good.
