January 30th, 2025 Market Report
Lettuce:
Lettuce markets are slightly up. Production for this commodity is expected to be lighter due to
cooler temperatures in the Yuma region the last couple of weeks. Some shippers are in better
shape than others, creating a price gap across the industry. Reports of misshapen heads,
blistering, peeling, and pink discoloration have surfaced. Quality is fair to good.

recent cold snap. Quality has been very nice.

Strawberries & Bush Berries: Alert
• Strawberry markets are steady to higher and are active. The recent cold snap in Florida
has really slowed production. Weather looks to be improving, so we should see better
availability as we head towards the Valentines holiday. Cold weather continues to limit
production in California. Mexico is moving up in cost as well as demand moves there
from other regions. Quality has been good on inbound.

o Peak sizes remain at 138ct and 113ct, while markets have seen a slight increase,
they remain competitive for these sizes. As the season progresses, shippers

Quality is good.
• Lemon
o Markets out of California are steady. District 3 (CA Desert/AZ) is performing well
and will continue through February, while District 1 (San Joaquin Valley) has begun
with lighter volumes, but is expected to ramp up over the next couple of weeks.
Quality is good.
o The market is steady to a little stronger on Mexican crossings.• Limes
o While the market has come off a little from last week, more rain later this week
may cause the market to tighten again. Old crop 110/150cts are quickly winding
down, and those sizes are not available in the new crop yet as the new crop
sizing remains heavy to the 230/250/275ct sizes. With the recent rains we could
also see an increase in stylar and skin breakdown again. We are also in the time
of year where the limes will be a little lighter in color, and not the deep dark
green we see during the summer and fall seasons. We will continue to regrade
all the inbound loads as needed prior to shipping to remove the visible
defects. Look for demand to pick up next week as well with the Super Bowl
coming up next weekend.
